Au revoir Octobre and a special goodbye to My Legume Love Affair Edition #100 as well. We have got some amazingly unique entries all month long and with much fervor & gusto, I present to you this MLLA100 roundup post and also the lucky winner of $25 Amazon gift card winner (at the very end). Read along to know more...
Just like Rafeeda, we eat rice twice (sometimes thrice) a week and always looking for new ideas to cook with it. This Persian Lentil Rice might be the next recipe to try. Made with brown lentils, basmati rice and dotted with apricots/raisins, it looks delectable!
Next up is another terrific lentil recipe - Dal with Haloumi and Mint, made with split red lentils and cubed haloumi. How cool is that flavor combination! Mint gives a nice herby feel to the dish. Well done Johanna.
First brown lentils. Next red lentils. Now a recipe featuring green lentils. I love the lentil theme going on here. :-) May I suggest this vibrant Spinach and Lentil Curry with Coconut Rice by The VegHog for your next week night meal. I sure have bookmarked it to try it real soon.
I am from southern part of India and tamarind is an integral part of our cooking. So, when Shaheen tweeted about this delicious dish Tamarind Edamame, Soy and Green Beans tagging me, I got real excited for a very good reason.
Guess what! Along with a stunning Creamy Sweet Potato & Peanut Stew made in slow cooker, Janet is also hosting a Plant Pure Nation Cookbook giveaway in the same post. Hurry, try your luck now as the last day to participate is November 6th.
This next recipe Spicy Chayote Picadillo is a beautiful play of intriguing flavors like chayote squash, black eyed peas and fresh veggies. As Emily said, "it is a healthy comfort food that brings warm fall colors to our plates".
Among all the legumes, I have a weak spot for Chickpeas. In fact, chana masala with rotis is our dinner today! Coming to this next entry, using panch poran (Bengal five spice) to spice up the dish, Lisa made a combination to die for - Chickpea, Spinach and Beets in a Coconut-Tomato Curry.
Ending this roundup on a sweet note, here is a recipe for Chana Dal Barfi by Sneha. With many festive opportunities coming up, it is totally worth the effort to make some barfi with almonds. What say?
This is my entry to celebrate the 100th edition of My Legume Love Affair. An easy, make ahead salad combination I saw while browsing Food Network website.
..and finally it is time to announce the winner (selected via random.org) for $25 Amazon gift card....
