Strawberry Cake Recipe

I was in Munich (Germany), far away from home when I first read about this recipe on Rev's blog. My immediate reaction was oh-my how beautiful does that look and next was - damn! why am I not home to bake the cake right away! Once I came back, I jumped on the first opportunity and made it - not once but twice in a row. It was that delicious. Sprinkling some sugar on top just before baking is a lovely idea to caramelize the top and to turn the strawberries into a goo-ey mess which are sneakily delicious. It is time to join the Strawberry Winter Cake Movement. Wohoo!

Nothing spells like #yum that this ridiculously easy berry cake. Trust me! :-)

{Recipe}  Strawberry Balsamic Basil Soda

Makes 4-5 glasses of soda
Adapted from A Cozy Kitchen

Ingredients:

1 cup chopped fresh strawberries
3/4 to 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar (amount varies depending on how sweet or tart the strawberries are and how much vinegar you prefer)
2 cups club soda or sparkling water

For Basil Syrup -

1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup fresh basil, finely minced

Preparation:

1. To make the basil syrup, combine sugar and water in a small saucepan. Bring the mixture to a simmer while stirring frequently for about a minute, and then remove from heat. Allow to cool for 5 minutes and then add minced basil. Place in a jar or other airtight container and allow to cool in the fridge for at least 2 hours (overnight is preferred).

2. In a blender or food processor, add the chopped strawberries and balsamic vinegar to blend into a puree. In pitcher, add chilled basil syrup and strawberry-balsamic puree. Mix  in the club soda and stir well before pouring into glasses. Serve over crushed ice to be enjoyed on a hot summer day.

..Cheers everybody to glorious (not too hot) summer days ahead...

{Recipe} Cointreau Diabolic and two exciting giveaways to win..

Robert Fulghum sure knew a thing or two about partying as he once said - "If you want an interesting party sometime, combine cocktails and a fresh box of crayons for everyone.".. I agree too as a holiday-get-together is never complete without a fizzy, signature cocktail as it gets people into a jolly-good mood. That is when the real conversations will start. Isn't it :-)

..there are tons of cocktails that you can make this season, some within a span of minutes. Today's recipe is one such drink which uses Cointreau as its base. There is cranberry juice that renders a gorgeous color, strawberry puree for a nice, fruity feel and tabasco for a hint of spicy note.

{Recipe} Cointreau Diabolic

Ingredients:

50 ml cointreau
30 ml cranberry juice
20 ml lemon juice
10 ml strawberry puree
2 drops of tabasco

Preparation:

Mix in a shaker with ice. Pour into a Martini Glass. Serve.
